Friends of Emanuel Hospice is a small, registered charity with big dreams for the future! We exist to raise funds and awareness for Emanuel Hospice in Oradea, Romania. The trustees are all committed Christians with a heart to see Emanuel Hospice supported and enabled in its amazing ministry to terminally ill adults and children in Romania.
Friends of Emanuel Hospice promote spiritual and holistic care through Christian principles and ethics, without limitations of sex, race, age or religion, of persons in Romania, suffering from advanced cancer or other life threatening illness.
We promote, encourage and assist in the teaching and training of doctors, nurses, and other persons engaged in the care of people with advanced cancer or other life threatening illnesses. We help to relieve persons in Romania suffering from conditions of severe or prolonged shock or depression arising from bereavement by the provision of counselling for the family, relatives and friends.
Who you will be helping
Our goal involves an exciting and challenging project to build a Hospice in-patient unit and daycentre in Oradea, Romania. You can buy a brick and build a bright hope for tomorrow. The new facility will allow Emanuel Hospice to expand their specialist services from a purely homecare service to include 24hr in-patient care, daycentre and out-patient clinic.
- 50,000 Romanians die every year with a cancer diagnosis
- 1,300 cancer related deaths/year in Bihor county where Emanuel Hospice is based
- less than 5% of Romanians who need palliative care have access to it
Spread the word
Local authorities have donated 5,000sqm of land to the hospice. To raise the £3million necessary, we are seeking partners large and small to buy a brick and invest in this much need facility:
- 100,000 people to give £10
- 100 organisations to invest £10,000
- 10 corporate donors to invest £100,000
‘Bright hope for tomorrow…’ comes from the hymn ‘Great is thy faithfulness’ and we believe that God will do more than we ask or imagine. As Christians, we know that death is not the end of the story and that God longs to bring transformation to us all today. Bright hope for tomorrow captures our belief that God will use this work to bring his light to change lives now and for eternity.
